To the Roman Catholic Church, and Offices of Pope John Paul II:
The Kurdish National Congress of North America extends our deepest sympathy to Roman Catholics worldwide at the passing of Pope John Paul II in the Vatican today.
Pope John Paul II was a great moral leader and a champion of human freedom. His outspoken advocacy for human rights worldwide will be one of his great legacies. During his 26 years as leader of the Roman Catholic Church he provided inspiration to millions around the world through his humanity, his courage, and his integrity.
The travel by Pope John Paul II to over a hundred countries demonstrated his concern for all the peoples on earth. His visits to Muslim mosques and to Jewish synagogues were proof of his vision of tolerance and his desire to reach out to all faiths.
The Roman Catholic Church, and the entire world have lost a truly wise leader.
