The 13th annual conference of the Kurdish National Congress of North America (KNC) was held July 28-29, 2000, in San Diego – California. The theme of the conference was “The Power of Unity”.
The representatives of the main Kurdish political parties, Kurdish and non-Kurdish organizations and distinguished Kurdish activists attended the conference.
The conference addressed a wide range of topics related to the role of education and Kurdish intelligentsia in the Kurdish movement, human rights, American policy towards the Kurds and the Kurdish policy, past, present and future in addition to the KNC’s achievements and affairs.
The conference addressed three main topics:
- Ethnic Cleansing
The discussion of this issue highlighted the crime of ethnic cleansing which has been going on for years all parts of Kurdistan. In Southern Kurdistan, ethnic cleansing has been concentrated mainly in the regions of Kirkuk, Khanakhin, Sindjiar, Makhmoor, Sheikhan,
